Paloma Montessori School
Classroom Communities
At Paloma Montessori School, our classrooms are beautiful, inviting, and thoughtfully designed communities that fully embrace the principles of Maria Montessori’s revolutionary approach. Natural light, soft colors, and uncluttered spaces create an atmosphere that encourages focused and calm activity.

Learning materials are carefully displayed on accessible shelves, promoting independence as students engage with their work. Everything has its place, creating a sense of harmony and order that both comforts and inspires.

Within this safe and empowering environment, students discover the joy of learning and the confidence to explore at their own pace.

Nido Community
8 Weeks - 18 Months
Our Nido program, meaning “nest” in Italian, is a calm, nurturing environment specially designed for infants ages 8 weeks to 18 months. Inspired by the Montessori philosophy, Nido provides a peaceful and responsive space where the youngest children are gently supported through their earliest stages of development.

In this thoughtfully prepared setting, infants are cared for with respect, consistency, and love. Every detail from the soft lighting and natural materials to the low shelves and child-sized furniture is designed to promote movement, independence, and security.

Each child in our Nido community is gently guided to:
-
Building secure, trusting relationships with caregivers
-
Developing gross and fine motor skills at their own pace
-
Strengthening early language through song, conversation, and storytelling
-
Engaging the senses through natural, open-ended materials
-
Establishing predictable routines that foster confidence and self-awareness
Our caregivers are specially trained to observe and respond to each child’s individual rhythms and needs. Gentle care routines like feeding, diapering, and rest are treated as opportunities for connection and communication, not just tasks to be completed.

Infants in our Nido program are given the freedom to move, explore, and interact within a safe and engaging environment. Rather than being confined to swings or walkers, children are encouraged to develop naturally like rolling, crawling, standing, and walking when they are ready.

We believe that even the youngest child deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and patience. Our Nido community offers a strong and loving foundation for lifelong learning, secure attachment, and joyful exploration.
Young Children's Community
18 Months - 3 Years Old
Our Young Children’s Community (YCC) is a nurturing, thoughtfully prepared Montessori environment designed for children ages 18 months to 3 years. It serves as a warm “home away from home,” where toddlers are encouraged to explore, discover, and grow at their own pace.
The space is intentionally arranged to support the natural development of independence, coordination, and social connection. Everything is just the right size, inviting young children to engage with their environment confidently and joyfully.

Each child in YCC has the opportunity to:
-
Strengthen language and communication skills
-
Refine gross and fine motor coordination
-
Develop independence and self-confidence
-
Practice social interaction and collaboration
-
Cultivate empathy and responsibility
-
Explore music, art, and literature in meaningful ways
Independence is fostered through purposeful, hands-on Montessori work that the child chooses and completes with success. Daily engagement with these materials helps children build concentration, express themselves clearly, move with intention, and develop a sense of self-reliance.

Our trained Montessori guides observe each child with care, offering gentle guidance tailored to their developmental needs. With a low child-to-teacher ratio, we ensure every child is known, supported, and nurtured.

Each day includes a balanced rhythm of independent work, community experiences, meal-time, rest, and outdoor play in our peaceful, natural play space.

We believe in strong partnerships with families and maintain open, respectful communication to support each child’s journey.

Children's House Community
3 years old - 6 years old
Our Children’s House is a vibrant and peaceful learning community for children ages 3 to 6 years. Rooted in Montessori philosophy, this mixed-age classroom is carefully prepared to meet the developmental needs of the whole child while supporting independence, concentration, and a lifelong love of learning.

In Children’s House, students are empowered to make meaningful choices, engage in purposeful work, and build strong social connections. The environment is designed to spark curiosity, promote deep focus, and offer hands-on experiences across a range of academic and practical life areas.

Children in this community are guided to:
-
Build strong foundations in early literacy, math, science, and cultural studies
-
Strengthen concentration, coordination, and problem-solving skills
-
Develop independence and responsibility through purposeful daily routines
-
Practice respectful communication and collaborative social skills
-
Engage in creative expression through music, art, and storytelling
-
Care for their environment and one another with empathy and intention
Our Montessori-trained guides observe and support each child’s unique learning path, offering lessons when a child is ready and encouraging progress at an individual pace. Because the Children’s House spans three years, children have the opportunity to grow from curious newcomers into confident leaders within the classroom community.
Through this rich and respectful environment, children become capable, self-directed learners with a deep sense of purpose, compassion, and joy in their work.

Please note: To help maintain a smooth and nurturing classroom environment, children entering Children’s House should be comfortable and independent in using the restroom. We understand that every child develops at their own pace and encourage families to collaborate with us to support this important milestone prior to enrollment.
